VTech InnoTab 3 Review & Giveaway

I was recently contacted to do a review of the VTech InnoTab 3 which is a nifty toy currently on the market. It gives children a chance to have a tablet of their very own!

My girls are definitely what I’d call techies which is a blessing but also can become a challenge. We are always on the lookout for electronics where we can control their exposure to online content, yet which gives them age-appropriate learning opportunities.

InnoTab 3

VTech InnoTab 3

The InnoTab 3 comes in two colours – blue and pink – and includes:

  • WonderCam with over 55 photo effects

  • Rechargeable Battery Pack

  • 16 total apps included: Art Studio, Magical Bean Stalk game and more

  • Includes 4 AA batteries

Our Review

The girls really liked the VTech InnoTab, they enjoyed exploring the games available on the Learning Lodge to download. We connected the unit to the computer and downloaded their top choices. There are over 350 education games, e-books, music, videos all specifically designed for your children’s age.  You can also use cartridges which are great if your child enjoys trading games with friends.

One thing my girls liked was the ability to create individual accounts on the InnoTab. When they opened it up they would be prompted to select a user, this meant that their own progress in games would be saved and easy for them to continue playing. At an age where ownership of things means a lot to them, this was a BIG deal.

There is a camera on the InnoTab 3, the girls had fun playing with it. They made videos and took photos and enjoyed showing them off to their friends. The one tip my 7 year old has is to take pics in a well lit room or the images just won’t show up well.

Within some of the games the girls used the tilt-sensor, it was pretty neat to have the InnoTab respond the the tilting within the game. This reminded them of the other tablets they’ve used and gained their respect quickly.

My girls love the InnoTab, it’s a great unit which I’d recommend to anyone with children who are interested in electronic learning.

Giveaway

The fine folks at VTech have kindly offered to giveaway a InnoTab 3 to one lucky Canadian reader. Entry is simple, just follow the steps on the Rafflecopter form below. Winner will be drawn on September 17th and have 48 hours to respond via email.

Looking for a Summer Getaway? How about Blue Mountain #BlueMtnSummer

School is OUT and many of us parents are looking for ways to occupy our kids, while making some family memories. This isn’t always a simple thing, I know my own children have very different interests and it takes creativity to find things they’ll both enjoy. If you’re looking around for something that would work, why not check out a summer getaway at Blue Mountain?

blue_mountain_logo

Blue Mountain may be known as the Winter playground of choice but did you know they have impressive Summer Programs? This resort is local to us and I can easily extend my personal recommendation! Blue Mountain is in Ontario, Canada, located near Collingwood – just a 90-minute drive from Toronto.

Blue Mountain is now a full four-season destination, with more than 20 activities for all abilities and interests you’re sure to find something for everyone in your family.

Activities at Blue Mountain

There are too many activities to list so please do head over to their website to see them all. I’ll focus on the ones which I know my own family would enjoy.

Last year, the resort opened new attractions, including the

  • Timber Challenge
  • High Ropes and Woodlot Low Ropes,
  • Two aerial obstacle courses featuring suspended logs and cargo nets
  • Cascade Putting Course
  • Mountaintop Segway Tours.
My girls would LOVE the Woodlot Low Ropes

My girls would LOVE the Woodlot Low Ropes

For my two girls who are very different I’d choose one of the Family Packages. There are 2 different choices which would suit us well, the Plunge package or the Summer Adventure package.

Plunge Package:

Plunge! is an aquatic play centre located in the Village, themed to recreate cottage-styled boathouses.  Plunge has indoor-outdoor pools, indoor water playground, hot tubs, rope swings, docks and slides! They even provide towels and lockers so all we’ll have to bring is our swimsuits!

The Plunge Package includes nightly accommodation and one Family Pass (2 adults and 2 children) to Plunge!

Summer Adventure Package

Blue Mountain has so much to do, the Summer Adventure package makes it simple. With this package you receive nightly accommodation and one Active Pack which allows you to save 25% off of activities like Wind Rider Triple Zips, Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster, Timber Challenge High Ropes and Woodlot Low Ropes, Cascade Putting Course and more.

Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster

The Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster

For someone like myself, I can choose something slower like bike rentals, gondola rides, mill-pond or beach activities. This package would be my first choice, simply because we can modify the activities to suit the kids interests and even split up to enjoy them.

The Blue Mountain Village

If you haven’t visited Blue Mountain Village yet, be prepared to be surprised!

The lively Village is located at the foot of the gorgeous slopes and has a culture which cannot be found anywhere else. You’ll be warmly welcomed and can find food, drinks, shops and entertainment to suit any taste.

Accommodations

There are over 1000 different accommodation units to choose from at Blue Mountain. It isn’t easy to choose between hotel-style rooms, suites, condos or chalet homes but I’m sure you’ll be able to find what your travel party needs.

For those of you travelling without children, don’t worry there is an active Night Life, fabulous food and yes, amazing spas to enjoy!

You can find out more about the amenities at Blue Mountain by clicking HERE…..go on, I know you want to see what there is to experience!

Have You Heard of Tagamoto Cars? We're Reviewing Them

Recently we were contacted by the fine folks at Tagamoto asking if we’d do a review of their toys. I reached out to my reviewer Jennifer who has her own blog, My Big Blue World. Jennifer agreed to do the review with her family and has provided her honest opinion here.

Tagamoto is a brand new way to play, brought to you by the makers of HexBugs! What is it you ask? Well let me tell you! It is a super cool play system where you control the road. The vehicles react to unique codes placed on the track.

What can the Tagamoto cars do?

They can start, stop and speed up, crash, break down and get repaired! They have working headlights and tail lights and even a working radio! There are 13 vehicles that have over 15 realistic sounds including engine revving, horn, sirens and more.

Complete with stop signs, road signs and safety cones to make your trip a little more exciting. The really neat thing about this set is that you can make the cars lights and radio come on, the engine can stall out and you can even make it move fast or slow around the track.

There is not just 1 way to play, but 3 ways to play!

  1. Road Codes- Cars follow the roads and react to the codes. Press the orange button on the bottom of the car and release to turn on the vehicle in road code read mode.

  2. Off Road- No roads required! Runs on most smooth surfaces. Just press and hold the orange button for 4 seconds and away you go!

  3. Free Roll- The front wheels snap down to free roll!

Jennifer’s Tagamoto Review

photo (55)

I was lucky enough to receive the “City Road Set” to review and my boys had a BLAST with it. They were so excited and were bursting at the seams to put it together.

Tagamoto review

I have woken up to the sound of the car starting for the last couple of days now. That sound is then followed by my boys laughing and giggling as the car zips around the track. Sometimes the car goes a bit crazy and swerves all over the wrong part of the road which can be quite entertaining. But for the most part it zooms around as it is supposed to and reacts to the codes perfectly.

The City Road Set includes over 37 pieces and comes with one car. The hardest part I found was putting on the little bitty stickers (road signs ect). It was all ready to go within 10 minutes which was great.

Overall it is a really easy track to set up and the boys love it which is the most important thing.  This would be the perfect gift for the car crazy boy in your life, they add so much more to play time than a normal playset!  Definitely gets an A++ from this momma.

Tagamoto sets are currently sold only in Target stores. For more information visit http://www.tagamoto.com/

Disclosure: We received the products for this review free of charge but as always opinions are our own.

Fred, Wilma and the WWE? Yes there's WWE Superstars coming to Bedrock!

Raise your hand if you grew up watching the Flintstones….yup I see a bunch of hands. Guess what…..WWE Studios has teamed with Warner Bros. to co-produce a “Flintstones” animated movie that will be released direct-to-homevideo early in 2015!

The movie will  feature Vince McMahon, John Cena, CM Punk and other stars on WWE’s talent roster as themselves – with a Flintstones twist (Vince McMagma, John Cenastone, CM Punkrock – as Fred, Barney and friends attend the first WWE main event.

This isn’t the first time the WWE and the Flintstones have gotten together, perhaps you remember the announcement of an animated “Scooby-Doo” film that will feature WWE’s stars in a new mystery when it’s released in March, just before “WrestleMania 30.”

There’s a kicker here which many WWE fans will find amusing….think back to the ongoing joke involving Cena and Fruity Pebbles cereal, can anyone guess what I’m talking about?

With just a bit of The Rock’s smack talk, he managed to label Cena “fruity pebbles” as an insult.

What followed was pure marketing genius, WWE and Post Cereals signed an endorsement deal that had Cena’s face on breakfast tables everywhere!

WWE is Family Friendly

This is another example of how the WWE was able to get the word out that they are a family-friendly organization. From the Saturday morning series “WWE Saturday Morning Slam” on Vortexx to “Christmas Bounty” with ABC Family people are understanding that WWE isn’t just for adults.

“WWE is family-friendly entertainment, so partnering with Warner Bros. on a Flintstones-WWE project was a natural extension of our ‘Scooby-Doo’ deal,” said Michael Luisi, president, WWE Studios. “This new, animated feature allows us to showcase our brand with young fans and loyal Flintstones enthusiasts alike.”

I for one am excited that my childhood favourites the Flintstones are pairing up with the WWE Superstars and I can’t wait to see the movie!

Where Have I Saved Using My CAA Membership?

East Side Mario’s for Lunch

Let’s begin with East Side Mario’s which is one of my family’s favourite restaurants. We chose to dine at East Side Mario’s on two different occasions, once with the children and once without.

As you can imagine each experiences was vastly different but the food was equally sumptuous!

When my husband and I went for lunch we were exhausted and enjoyed the comfort food which greeted us. We had spent our morning shopping at The Gap & Banana Republic Factory Stores and were ready for a break. Each of us enjoyed our meals, although at times it felt as though my children were with us….why does he always do this?

WWE & Susan G. Komen #MakeMomProud Twitter Party

When my first daughter was 5 weeks old I signed up to attend a local group run by the town called Baby Basics. I went hoping to find some sanity, I adored my baby but knew I was becoming neurotic with all of my worries…there’s only so many times in a day you can wonder “Is she breathing” before you wonder if you’re going mad. What I ended up finding was a loving group of Moms whom I became very close with, all 13 of us have kept in touch over the years and get together when we can.

It was within this circle of 13 that I had my first experience with breast cancer. One of my fellow Mommy’s was diagnosed and although it wasn’t happening to me it was a kick in the teeth to be sure. Thankfully she kicked the proverbial snot outta cancer and is loving life with her husband and daughter today.

Cancer and Mother’s Day Go Together For Me

Since that time in my life I’ve always associated Mother’s Day with cancer. It sounds strange but I was a new Mom and having one of my friends who will always be tied to the early days of my Mommyhood battling the disease the two go together for me.

It wasn’t until this year that I’ve recognized that I could do something to make a difference for Mother’s Day. Susan G. Komen and the WWE are making it possible for me to donate to help women with breast cancer by supporting our community  cancer programs for uninsured and underserved women.

I know that my Mum would much prefer I donate the money I would have spent on a wee gift, she has a giving heart and will be thrilled to be helping others rather than herself.

WWE & Susan G. Komen Make Mom Proud

wwe make mom proud

WWE has teamed up with Susan G. Komen to raise awareness with the Make Mom Proud campaign. Komen is the world’s largest nonprofit funder of breast cancer research and community outreach programs. WWE will be using all of their assets (social media, TV broadcasts, live events) to help raise awareness, urging fans to participate in local races and donating to the organization.

Watch throughout the mont for a series of public service announcements which share information on breast cancer from WWE Superstar Triple H and Divas Alicia Fox and Layla.

Alicia Fox and Layla will also attend the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure and its surrounding events on Mother’s Day weekend in Washington, D.C., an area that has among the highest breast cancer mortality rates in the country.

#WWEMoms Make A Wish World Wish Day Twitter Party

It’s no secret that I admire people who seek to help others. It is my firm belief that this is our true purpose in life, to help ourselves to flourish by helping others. One of the organizations I am deeply touched by is the Make A Wish Foundation which grants the wishes of children who are dealing with life-threatening illnesses.

The Make A Wish Foundation began in 1980 with just one boy named Chris Greicius whose dreams of becoming a police officer were granted by the efforts of a US Customs Officer and a group of Arizona Department of Public Safety personnel. 7-year-old Chris was being treated for leukemia and had no idea that is wish would become the spring-board for the largest wish granting organization in the world!

Today there is a network of nearly 25,000 volunteers which enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.

Today as I write this, I’m in awe of the number of children Make A Wish has touched. The counter on their website currently says 233,856 Wishes Granted, a wish every 38 minutes!

WWE Star John Cena #1 Wish Maker

Once again I’m a proud #WWEMoms and am happy to share more information with you. I’ve blogged about WWE Superstar John Cena being the #1 Wish Maker for the Make A Wish Foundation when he hit his 300th wish granted. The WWE has had a 30 year relationship with Make A Wish and continue to support them today.

Donate Air Miles and WWE Star John Cena will Match It

April is a very special month for Make A Wish as they celebrate World Wish Day on April 29th. This year alone 10,000 wish kids will take a flight for a Make a Wish experience. Why not help by donating your Air Miles or dollars? It’s very simple, just head here and click the button, you WILL be making a difference!

As an incentive, WWE Superstar John Cena will personally match every frequent flier mile donated in April, up to 4.5 million.

WWE Saturday Morning Slam #WWEMoms

This coming Saturday is St. Patrick’s Day and what better way to celebrate it than fixing your family a green mocktail and gathering to watch WWE’s Saturday Morning Slam?

WWE_Saturday_Morning_Slam_Logo

WWE Saturday Morning Slam 10:30am on Vortexx on The CW

WWE Saturday Morning Slam is the fastest, most energy-filled half-hour on television, featuring raw, in-ring action and larger-than-life Superstars and Divas from around the world.

This series has been developed specifically for children and provides superstar profiles, behind the scenes footage, exclusive matches and highlights WWE’s community efforts like the anti-bullying campaign and the “Be A Star” program.

wwe saturday morning slam

WWE Saturday Morning Slam is rated TV-G which is a lower rating than WWE’s usual TV-PG rating and it does not feature any moves or holds aimed at the head or neck in order to reduce the violence.

This is another fine example of WWE listening to its fans and the efforts they’re willing to go to. This new child friendly format will encourage families who haven’t yet experienced the WWE’s action to give it a go!

So this St. Patrick’s day spend some family time cheering on your favorite WWE SuperStar!

This is a sponsored informational post but as always the opinions are my own.
